Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Player Pulse

01

What is the cost of PlayerPulse?

PlayerPulse is billed on a per player cost annually. Each player is $3 per month ($36 annually). We are able to reduce this cost significantly based on bulk orders or multi-year contracts. Please contact us for more details on purchasing for 100+ players and how we can reduce costs for your organization.

02

Is there a minimum number of players needed to use PlayerPulse?

No. You can use PlayerPulse with as few as 1 player if that is what your organization has.

03

Is there a limit on the number of teams I can create?

No. You can create as many teams as your organization needs, and players can exist in multiple teams within the same organization. Adding/removing players is seamless.

04

I used SoccerPulse in the past, what are the biggest differences?

This new app is built using a framework that looks identical on both operating systems, making new features and tutorials easy for users on both platforms to understand. We've taken what was great about SoccerPulse and refined it into an app that supports multi-sports and is built for the future.

05

How do I get started as a player?

To get started as a player, simply download the app from either the Google Play or the Apple App Store, select Individual User, and enter the Join ID for the team you wish to join.

06

What is the Availability Score and how is it calculated in PlayerPulse?

The availability score is how often are your players available to participate fully in training or games. This score is a very good barometer of how well a program is doing at keeping players on the field and avoiding injuries/illnesses. It is based on the prior 90 days.

For example, if a team has 10 players and 1 player misses 30 days, the availability score would be 60/90 for that player and 90/90 for all the other players, for a total score of 96%.

07

How is Training Load calculated in PlayerPulse? What is the Load Ratio?

Training Load is calculated by using the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and multiplying it by the minutes trained to determine the total load for that event. This is then entered into a formula that utilizes an EWMA (expotentially weighted moving average) to calculate the acute (7 day) and chronic (28 day) for the player.

The load ratio compares the acute load (7 day) to the chronic load (28 day) to produce a training status for that player. Players who are less than 0.8 are considered to be DETRAINING (losing fitness). Players who are between 0.8 and 1.3 are considered to be ON TARGET (improving or maintaining fitness). Players who are 1.3 to 1.5 are considered OVERTRAINING (too much too soon) and players who are greater than 1.5 are considered to be at INJURY RISK due to too much too soon.

We are exploring ways for coaches to utilize data sync'd from objective metrics like heart rate monitors and Apple Health kit into the Training Load calculation.

08

Does Beyond Pulse sync with PlayerPulse? What does that process look like?

Yes. We are proud that one of our key strategic partners is Beyond Pulse - this allows us to pull objective data like Heart Rate above 80%, Distance Travelled, Workload, and Active Participation into our app for coaches to view alongside subjective data like performance and Rate of Perceived Exertion.

To sync with Beyond Pulse, a player will navigate to their profile through the top navigation bar and scroll down to Beyond Pulse to enter their authentication credentials. Once sync'd any data that falls within 15 minutes of start / end times of a PlayerPulse event will be pulled into the database for viewing. We are exploring ways to aggregate this data to allow for totals to be viewed across multiple dates and players.
